This is the show created after the huge success of the 7 minute performance at the Eurovision song contest in Ireland in 1994 to a composition by Bill Whelan entitiled 'Riverdance' (click here for video).
The full length Riverdance show has now been running for 12 years and has remained fundamentally unchanged.

very high quality show, especially loved 'trading taps' a contest between American tap dancers and the Irish male lead.

This show was created by the original Riverdance male lead, Michael Flatley and has now been running for 11 years.
There are two companies that regularly tour the world.

Created in 1999, Rhythm of the Dance is another large scale, modern Irish dance show which tells the story of the Irish Celts journey through history.
This show has a particularly good website with video clips and lots of information.

Originally staring World Champion, Michael Donnelan and created in 1999 this is the story of two lovers in the potato famine and features the New York Tap Stars as well as a large cast of Irish dancers and the voice of Christopher Lee.
Magic of the Dance is touring again in 2008.

First performed in 1999, this show broke new ground by using Irish dance as part of a theatrical production to tell a story. It told the tale of two lovers and starred Jean Butler and Colin Dunne, alongside a troupe of more than 35 dancers.
The show played in London and New York and is available on DVD.
